Hello Summer Readers!
We’re starting off Weekly Scoop #1 with a big ol’ belly laugh! Here are some activities, recommendations, and more to make you giggle.
This is the first of eight Weekly Scoops you will receive every Tuesday through August 25, brought to you by the WVML Youth and Technology Librarians. We look forward to staying connected with you over the summer. Watch for a new Scoop theme each week!

We also have optional Summer Reading Club reading logs, tracking sheets, and bookmarks you can pick up in the Youth Department if you’re visiting the Library.

What's On?
Check in with us virtually every week, once in a while or not at all—attending these virtual check-ins is not required for SRC completion. Note there are no in-person check-ins this year.

Boredom Buster
An empty cereal box can lead to so much crafting fun!

It can be a stage, an animal, a car, an art piece, and even more! We challenge you to save your empty cereal boxes and turn them into creative, funny crafts!

Tell Your Story
This week we’ll focus on brainstorming and write a funny story.  

Brainstorming is when you write down as many ideas as possible without worrying if they are good or not. For your story, brainstorm a list of funny characters, funny settings, and funny words.

Choose the ideas you like the best from your brainstorming session to write a funny story.  Here’s a first sentence to get you started:
 “One day a ______ met a _______ at the ________.”
