Tell Your Story
Writers play with language all the time. In 1908 a writer named Terry Sullivan wrote the famous tongue twister “She sells seashells by the seashore.” Can you say it 5 times fast?  It’s tricky, isn’t it?  That’s because the sounds (s  and sh; ee and e) are similar but not the same.  Write your own tongue twister—and please share it with us!

Book Talk
We miss talking to kids about what they’re reading at check-ins! Here are five imaginative, open-ended questions to ask kids next time they finish a book:
  1. If you could give the book another titles, what would it be?
  2. Which characters would you like to meet in real life?
  3. Is there anything you wish was different about the ending?
  4. Would the book make a cool movie, video game, TV show? Why or why not?
  5. What is one thing you would ask the author if you could talk to them?
These questions are based on the Scholastic post "5 New Questions to Ask Kids About Books" by Amy Mascott.

Make Your Own Board Game - Week 5
Now that you’ve made your prototype game, it’s time to play it and see how it works. Play it yourself and make improvements.  Then get someone who didn’t make the game to play it. Watch them play. Ask them questions like,
  • What did you love about this game?
  • Was anything confusing for you?
  • How can it be better?
Improvement is an important part of the Engineering Process, a process you can use to solve problems.
