Winter is Coming!

We have so much going on for kids this November and December, including over Winter Break! Read on to learn more.

 

Special thanks to all our 2023 Summer Reading Club participants. We had quite the summer with over 1,900 kids and teens signing up. On average, 240 kids visited the Library weekly to share their reading.

The results are in! The winners of this year’s Summer Reading Club School Trophies are…

Reading Medals

We had record-breaking attendance at our Medal Ceremony this year, with over 1,000 kids and families! Over 600 students have been awarded reading medals so far. Another record!

 

We still have lots of medals available to give out. Completed 50 days of reading but never came to get a medal? Visit the Youth Desk whenever the Library is open to collect yours!

What’s On at the Library! 

Remembrance Day | November 11

The Library will be open from 1 – 5 p.m. following the Remembrance Day Ceremony at the Memorial Arch. Come during opening hours to view the Book of Remembrance and to learn and reflect.

Valentines for Vets | All Ages 
Create a handmade valentine in the Youth Department, and we’ll send it to a Canadian Veteran via Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC).

Sphero Map Navigators | Ages 9–12

Sphero is going on an adventure! Kids will practice map-reading and coding skills while programming Sphero to get to a destination.

Come hang out in The Lab and play together with the Library’s awesome collection of technology and apps. We will also have fun screen-free options, like LEGO!

A friendly reminder: all kids under the age of 10 need to use the Library with an adult or attentive caregiver.
